Victoria Mary Sackville-West, known as Vita Sackville-West, was an English author and poet. She won the Hawthornden Prize in 1927 for her long narrative poem The Land and again in 1933 for her Collected Poems, becoming the only writer to win the prize twice. She helped create the gardens at Sissinghurst Castle in Kent, which are closely associated with her life and work. She was known for her aristocratic lifestyle, her marriage, and her relationships with women, including the novelist Virginia Woolf.
