William Appleman Williams was an American historian and writer who served on the History faculty at Oregon State University from 1968 to 1986. He is regarded as a founder of the "revisionist school" of American diplomatic history. His work, including The Contours of American History, was recognized by the Modern Library as one of the 100 best non-fiction books in English during the twentieth century. The Williams Papers, which include correspondence, clippings, books, photographs, and memorabilia, are preserved as part of his archival collection.
