William J. Coughlin was a United States administrative judge in Detroit who also wrote novels under his own name and the pseudonym Sean A. Key. His works include The Twelve Apostles, Her Father's Daughter, Her Honor, In The Presence Of Enemies, and Shadow of a Doubt (1991), as well as Cain's Chinese Adventure and The Mark of Cain. He is known for writing law- and courtroom-themed thrillers, which some believe were inspired by his judicial experience.
