Keigo Higashino, born 1958 in Osaka, is one of Japan's most popular fiction authors. He started writing novels while working as an engineer at Nippon Denso Co., winning the Edogawa Rampo Prize in 1985 for Hokago at age 27, then became a full-time writer in Tokyo. He won the Mystery Writers of Japan award in 1999 for Himitsu and the 134th Naoki Prize in 2006 for Yogisha X no Kenshin (The Devotion of Suspect X).
