Xavier de Maistre

Xavier de Maistre of Savoy was a military man and author. He was born in 1763 in Chambéry to an aristocratic family and was the younger brother of Joseph de Maistre, a noted philosopher and counter-revolutionary. He wrote his fantasy Voyage autour de ma chambre in 1790 while under arrest in Turin following a duel. He died in 1852.
