Rabbi Yaakov ben Yitzchak Ashkenazi was a Polish rabbi who lived from 1550 to 1624. He is known for authoring the Tseno Ureno, a Yiddish-language prose work written in the 1590s that follows the structure of the weekly portions of the Pentateuch and Haftorahs. The work, sometimes referred to as the "Women's Bible," was intended to provide a narrative interpretation of the Torah for a general audience.
