Zhou Daguan was a Chinese diplomat of the Yuan dynasty who served under Temür Khan. He visited the Khmer Empire in 1296 and remained at the court of King Indravarman III until 1297, during which time he observed and recorded the customs of Cambodia and the Angkor temple complexes. He later wrote "The Customs of Cambodia," a detailed account that remains one of the most important sources for understanding historical Angkor.
