Uncle Fred in the Springtime is a 1939 novel by P.G. Wodehouse. Pongo's Uncle Fred, the Earl of Ickenham, is called in to thwart the Duke of Dunstable's plot to steal Lord Emsworth's pig, Empress of Blandings. He arrives at Blandings Castle under false pretenses, posing as "loony-doctor" Sir Roderick Glossop, accompanied by two other imposters, a bookie-turned-detective, an angry poet, a suspicious secretary, and Lord Emsworth's heir wielding a misdirected gun.
