About “A Hundred Thousand Billion Poems”

A Hundred Thousand Billion Poems is a book by Raymond Queneau, published in 1961. It consists of ten sonnets printed on card, with each line on a separate strip. The sonnets share the same rhyme scheme and rhyme sounds, allowing any line from one sonnet to be combined with any line from the others. This structure creates 100,000,000,000,000 different possible poems. When Queneau faced difficulties in creating the book, he asked for help from mathematician François Le Lionnais. Their collaboration led to the founding of Oulipo. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
