A Legacy of Spies is a 2017 spy novel by British author John le Carré. It serves as both a prequel and a sequel to The Spy Who Came in from the Cold and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. The book is the final novel by le Carré to feature his recurring character George Smiley. After le Carré's death, his son Nick Harkaway wrote Karla's Choice, a continuation that also includes Smiley and other characters from the author’s previous works.
