A 2005 non-fiction work by Kurt Vonnegut, collecting twelve pieces originally published in the radical magazine In These Times, later gathered by an independent publisher into a bestseller of 350,000 copies. Drawing on Mark Twain, Jesus Christ, Abraham Lincoln, and early-twentieth-century socialists, Vonnegut critiques neo-imperialism and multinational capitalism in a lively, discursive style with digressions on blues, Kafka, Shakespeare, the Dresden bombing, and the Grateful Dead, illustrated with his own drawings.
