About “A Promenade of the Hearts”

A Promenade of the Hearts is a collection of stories, anecdotes, and poems from the Arab Middle Ages, including some works with homosexual and lesbian themes. The compiler, Ahmad al-Tifashi, lived from 1184 to 1253 and was born in Tiffech. He studied in Tunisia, Egypt, and Damascus. His interests spanned law, natural science, astrology, poetry, and the social sciences. The collection reflects the cultural and literary traditions of the Islamic world during the medieval period.
