About “Al-Burda”
Qasīdat al-Burda, also known as al-Burda, is a thirteenth-century ode of praise for the Prophet Muhammad written by the Egyptian Shadhili mystic al-Busiri. The poem's full title is "The Celestial Lights in Praise of the Best of Creation." It is primarily known within the Muslim world and is entirely devoted to praising Muhammad. According to tradition, the poet was deeply afflicted and constantly praised Muhammad, to the point that Muhammad appeared to him in a dream and wrapped him in a mantle. The next morning, the poet found himself healed by God. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
