About “Artuş və Zaur”
Artush and Zaur is a 2009 novel by Azerbaijani writer and journalist Ali Akbar. It tells the story of two fictional men, Artush Saroyan, an Armenian, and Zaur Jalilov, an Azerbaijani. The novel sparked controversy because of the ongoing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the taboo surrounding homosexuality in both cultures, even though it was legalized in the early 2000s.
