About “Astronomica”
The Astronomica, also known as Astronomicon, is a Latin didactic poem about celestial phenomena, written in hexameters and divided into five books. It was composed around AD 30–40 by a Roman poet named Marcus Manilius. Very little is known about Manilius, and while there is evidence that the poem was likely read by other Roman writers, no surviving works explicitly quote him. The poem serves as an educational work on astronomy and related topics. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
