About “Barefoot in the park”

Paul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds who have just returned from their honeymoon. Corie is a free-spirited person, while Paul is a serious lawyer. They move into an expensive apartment that needs repairs and a paint job. Corie's mother visits unexpectedly, and the couple tries to set her up with their neighbor, Velasco, during a dinner. The evening quickly spirals into chaos, with everything that can go wrong happening. Paul feels disconnected from Corie, whom he finds too wild and unpredictable. She longs for him to be more spontaneous, even suggesting something as simple as running barefoot in the park. The play was written by Neil Simon.
