Bertram Cope's Year is a 1919 novel by Henry Blake Fuller set in the fictional town of Churchton, Illinois, where Bertram Cope, an attractive young English instructor, spends a year completing his thesis at a university. Cope, socially unaware and lacking confidence, becomes the object of desire for an older woman, two older men, and three young women, while his primary emotional attachment is to his college chum Arthur Lemoyne, whose physical advance during a play rehearsal leads to the end of their relationship.
