Bill the Galactic Hero follows a Technical Fertilizer Operator from a planet of farmers who is conscripted into the Empire's military by a recruiting robot and finds himself aboard the warship Christine Keeler. He navigates a series of misadventures involving combat against the Chingers, loss of an arm in the fuse room, and eventual refuge in the Department of Sanitation on the world-city of Helior, where he gains job security and peace.
