Black Butler is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yana Toboso. It has been serialized in Monthly GFantasy, a shōnen manga magazine published by Square Enix, since September 2006. The story centers on Ciel Phantomhive, a 12-year-old earl who serves as the Queen's Watchdog. He investigates crimes in the underworld of Victorian-era London. Ciel has a contract with Sebastian Michaelis, a demon who works as his butler. In exchange for his help, Sebastian will eventually consume Ciel's soul.
