About “Book of Zhou”
The Book of Zhou is a historical record of the Western Wei and Northern Zhou dynasties, which were led by the Xianbei people. It is part of the official Twenty-Four Histories of imperial China. The text was compiled by the Tang dynasty historian Linghu Defen and completed in 636 CE. It originally contained 50 chapters, but some have been lost. Surviving sections were supplemented with information from other sources. The work provides a detailed account of the political and military affairs of the Western Wei and Northern Zhou periods.
