Brave Story is a Japanese fantasy novel written by Miyuki Miyabe. It was serialized in regional newspapers from November 11, 1999, to February 13, 2001, and later published in two hardcover volumes by Kadokawa Shoten. The story became the basis for a media franchise. It was adapted into a manga by Yoichiro Ono and Miyabe, who wrote a new story for the adaptation. The manga was serialized in Weekly Comic Bunch and collected into twenty tankōbon volumes between April 2004 and May 2008.
