About “Brehms Tierleben”

Brehms Tierleben is a scientific reference book first published in the 1860s by Alfred Edmund Brehm, a German naturalist. It was one of the first modern popular zoological treatises. Originally published in German as a six-volume work in 1869 by the Bibliographisches Institut under Herrmann Julius Meyer, it included illustrations directed by Robert Kretschmer. A second edition, completed in 1879, expanded to ten volumes. The book was later translated into several European languages. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
