About “Castaways of the Flying Dutchman”
A boy and a dog are trapped aboard the legendary ship the Flying Dutchman and sent on an eternal journey by an avenging angel. They roam the earth for centuries, searching for those in need. Their travels bring them to Chapelvale, a quiet 19th-century village whose survival is threatened. To save the village, the boy and dog must uncover its buried secrets and solve its ancient riddles. This task requires the combined effort of the village's people and the unique talents of the boy and his dog. The story is a departure for Brian Jacques, who is known for the Redwall series, and he succeeds in creating a different but equally compelling tale. The novel was published in 2001.
