About “Cinderella Boy”
Cinderella Boy is a one-shot manga by Monkey Punch, first published in 1980 in the magazine Popcorn and later reprinted in Anime DO in 1982. The story follows Ranma Hinamatsuri, an impoverished private detective, and Rella "Cindy" Shirayuki, a thrill-seeking rich girl. They work together in Kirin Town, a lawless European city-state with its own currency. The city's name is a pun on the English word for "killing." After being badly injured while stumbling upon an organized crime operation, the two are surgically joined into one body by a mysterious doctor. Each night at midnight, their bodies switch forms and identities. Neither remembers what the other experiences, as they lose consciousness until the change returns to them the next day.
