About “Close to the sources”

Close to the sources explores the status and critical relationships between politics, culture, literary creativity, criticism, education, and publishing in post-independence Africa, with a focus on promoting indigenous knowledge systems. The book engages with literary culture, meta-criticism, and education, revising and extending Amilcar Cabral's concept of the Return To The Source while introducing inter-, cross-, and trans-disciplinary approaches to understanding African culture, politics, and the academy.
