Coal Run is a community shaped by the aftermath of a mining explosion that killed many men and left lasting effects on their families decades later. The story follows Ivan Zoschenko, a local deputy and former football player, as he spends a week preparing for an old teammate's release from prison, during which he confronts a long-held secret and interacts with a range of individuals connected to his past.
