About “Constitution of Peru”

The Political Constitution of the Republic of Peru is the country's supreme law. The current constitution was enacted on 31 December 1993 and is Peru's fifth constitution in the 20th century. It replaced the 1979 Constitution and was drafted by the Democratic Constituent Congress, convened by President Alberto Fujimori during the Peruvian Constitutional Crisis of 1992. This crisis followed Fujimori's self-coup and the dissolution of Congress. The constitution was promulgated on 29 December 1993. A Democratic Constitutional Congress was elected in 1992, and the final text was approved in a 1993 referendum. The document was primarily created by Fujimori and his supporters, with no participation from opposing entities. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
