Eric Packer, a 28-year-old billionaire asset manager, leaves his penthouse triplex and enters his customized white stretch limousine. His day includes two goals: making a major bet against the yen and getting a haircut. His trip to the barbershop becomes a chaotic and humorous journey. He is stuck in traffic due to a presidential motorcade, a music idol's funeral, and a political protest. During the delay, he meets various experts in security, technology, currency, finance, and theory. At times, he leaves the car for sexual encounters, while other times he remains inside. The novel follows his experiences during this unusual day.
