Crescent City is a novel set in mid-nineteenth century New Orleans that follows Miriam Raphael, a Jewish woman raised in luxury in the city, as she navigates her life as a Southern wife and mother during the Civil War. She struggles with her husband's touch and her own hidden ambitions, becoming involved with André Perrin, a forbidden lover, while also facing the emotional devotion of her childhood friend Gabriel Carvalho.
