D.Gray-man is a Japanese manga series created by Katsura Hoshino. Set in an alternate 19th century, it follows Allen Walker as he joins the Black Order, an organization of exorcists who use a substance called Innocence to fight the Millennium Earl and his army of Akuma. The series incorporates characters from Hoshino's earlier works, including Zone. The story is known for its dark tone, and Hoshino altered a scene she felt was too violent for younger readers.
