About “Davitiani”

Davitiani is an autobiographical poetry collection by Davit Guramishvili. The work addresses themes such as religion, politics, patriotism, and war, reflecting the author's complex life experiences. It is considered the most significant piece of Georgian literature from the 18th century but was never published during Guramishvili's lifetime. The poems were written over different periods of his life, with the most significant pieces created in his later years. Guramishvili sent the manuscript from Myrhorod, Ukraine, where he lived, to Tbilisi, Georgia, in 1787. The work remained unpublished until the next century.
