About “De Nieuwe Katechismus”
The Dutch Catechism of 1966 was the first post-Vatican II Catholic catechism. It was commissioned and authorized by the Catholic hierarchy of the Netherlands. The catechism was mainly written by Edward Schillebeeckx, a Dominican intellectual, and Piet Schoonenberg, a professor of dogmatic theology at the Catholic University of Nijmegen. It was produced in response to the reforms of the Second Vatican Council and aimed to present Catholic teachings in a modern context.
