About “Devil in Iron”

"The Devil in Iron" is a 1934 short story by Robert E. Howard, part of the original Conan the Cimmerian series. It was first published in Weird Tales in August 1934, and Howard was paid $115 for it. The story involves the resurrection of a mythical demon, the theft of a sacred dagger, and a trap that draws Conan to an island fortress where the demon resides. Some scholars consider it the weakest of the early Conan stories due to plot loopholes and borrowed elements from Howard's earlier work Iron Shadows in the Moon.
