About “Die Feuerzangenbowle”
Die Feuerzangenbowle is a German novel written by Heinrich Spoerl, published in 1933. It follows a famous writer who goes undercover as a student at a small town gymnasium after being told he missed out on the typical school experience by being homeschooled. The story is set during the Weimar Republic in Germany. The novel was adapted into film three times, with the 1944 movie directed by Helmut Weiss being the most well-known version.
