Die Waffen nieder! (Lay Down Your Arms!) is the best-known novel by author and peace activist Bertha von Suttner, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1905 for the book. Published in German in 1889 by Edgar Pierson in Dresden, it quickly became successful for its treatment of war and peace and of women's place in society.
