About “Die Wand”

A woman finds herself trapped in a small area of nature, the only survivor. She takes in a dog, a cat, and a pregnant cow, and adapts to a life she never expected. As a city dweller, she learns new skills and begins to record her experiences on the backs of old calendars. Over time, she comes to know herself better and feels a slow sense of freedom. Without the people she once lied to, she is free from past constraints. The novel was published in 1963 by Marlen Haushofer.
