About “Die Wolke”
Die Wolke is a German novel for young adults written by Gudrun Pausewang and published in 1987. The story was inspired by the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster and follows a 14-year-old girl dealing with the effects of a fictional nuclear accident in Germany. It was translated into English by Patricia Crampton and published in 1997 under the title Fall-Out. The novel received several awards and became a popular choice for classroom reading.
