About “Dionysiaca”
The Dionysiaca is an ancient Greek epic poem written by Nonnus. It is divided into 48 books and contains 21,286 lines, making it the longest surviving poem from Greco-Roman antiquity. The poem is composed in the Homeric dialect and uses dactylic hexameters. Its main subject is the life of Dionysus, focusing on his expedition to India and his eventual return to the west.
