Written by Yanbei Xianren, the pen name of Wen Kang, a Manchu from an Eight Banner family, the story follows He Yufeng, also known as "Thirteenth Sister." She seeks revenge for her father, who died in prison due to persecution by a high official. He Yufeng rescues Ms. Zhang and a heroic young scholar, An Ji, from cannibals. When An Ji becomes a high official, he marries both Ms. Zhang and He Yufeng. With a new emperor on the throne, her father receives justice.
