About “Estoria de España”
The Estoria de España, also known as the Primera Crónica General, is a history book written under the initiative of Alfonso X of Castile, who ruled from 1252 to 1284. He played an active role in editing the work. It is considered the first extended history of Spain written in Old Spanish, a West Iberian Romance language that developed from Vulgar Latin into modern Spanish. The author drew on many prior works to create this historical account. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
