About “Eureka”

Eureka is a 1848 non-fiction essay by Edgar Allan Poe, who titled it "A Prose Poem" and also referred to it as "An Essay on the Material and Spiritual Universe." Written as an adaptation of a lecture he had given, the work presents Poe's own intuitive ideas about the nature of the universe, without relying on prior scientific research. In it, he explores the relationship between humans and God, comparing God to an author. The essay is dedicated to the German naturalist and explorer Alexander von Humboldt.
