About “F. L. Věk”
Alois Jirásek was a Czech writer known for his historical novels and plays. He taught history at a high school in Litomyšl and later in Prague until retiring in 1909. His novels reflected a strong belief in his nation's progress toward freedom and justice. Jirásek associated with prominent Czech figures such as Mikoláš Aleš, Josef Václav Sládek, Karel Václav Rais, and Zdeněk Nejedlý. He participated in an art club at the Union Cafe and worked as an editor for the magazine Zvon. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature multiple times, including in 1918, 1919, 1921, and 1930. One of his works is a historical novel written by him.
