For Bread Alone is an autobiographical work by Mohammed Choukri, first written in Arabic in 1972. It was translated into English by Paul Bowles in 1973. The book was later published in French in 1980 under the title Le Pain Nu, translated by Tahar Ben Jelloun. It has been translated into 39 foreign languages and was adapted into a French graphic novel by Abdelaziz Mouride.
