About “Futuh al-Haramayn”

Futuh al-Haramayn is the first known Islamic guidebook for Hajj pilgrims. Written by Muhi al-Din Lari, it was completed in India in 1505–6 and dedicated to Muzaffar ibn Mahmudshah, the ruler of Gujarat. No early illustrated copies from India are known, but the book became widely copied in Ottoman Turkey during the 16th century. It provides a detailed description of the Hajj rituals and the religious sites visited during the pilgrimage. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
