About “General History of Taiwan”
The General History of Taiwan is a traditional-style historical work written by Taiwanese historian Lien Heng during the Japanese colonial period. It was written in the 1910s and completed in 1918, with the first and second volumes published in 1920 by Lien Heng through the Society for the General History of Taiwan in Taipei. The third volume was published in 1921. In 1946, a Chungking edition was released, containing the first and second volumes. Some forewords and inscriptions by Japanese officials were removed, and new forewords by Hsu Ping-chang and Chang Chi were added. A Shanghai edition followed in 1947.
