Great Teacher Onizuka, or GTO, is a Japanese manga series created by Tooru Fujisawa. It was first published in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine from January 1997 to February 2002, and later compiled into 25 tankōbon volumes. The story follows Eikichi Onizuka, a 22-year-old former bōsōzoku member who starts working as a teacher at Holy Forest Academy, a private middle school in Tokyo. The series serves as a standalone sequel to Fujisawa's earlier works Shonan Junai Gumi and Bad Company, which depict Onizuka's life before he becomes a teacher.
