About “Guliang Zhuan”
The Guliang Zhuan is one of the Three Commentaries on the Spring and Autumn Annals, along with the Zuo Zhuan and Gongyang Zhuan. It is traditionally attributed to a writer from the state of Lu with the surname Guliang, part of the disciple tradition of Zixia. However, the exact name and date of the text remain uncertain. While it may have roots in oral traditions from the Warring States period, the first known references to it appear during the Han dynasty. Its greatest influence was in the 1st century BCE.
