About “Hákonarmál”
Hákonarmál is an Old Norse skaldic poem, "The Song of Hákon," composed by the skald Eyvindr skáldaspillir about the fall of the Norwegian king Hákon the Good at the battle of Fitjar and his reception in Valhalla. It emulates the roughly seven-years-older Eiríksmál and depicts the Christian Hákon as a friend to the pagan gods. The poem survives in its entirety and is considered to be of great beauty.
