About “Hagakure”

Hagakure, also known as The Book of the Samurai, is a guide for warriors based on the teachings of Yamamoto Tsunetomo, a former retainer to Nabeshima Mitsushige. The text was compiled by Tashiro Tsuramoto from conversations with Tsunetomo between 1709 and 1716. It was not published until later.
