Hamtaro, known in Japan as Trotting Hamtaro, is a Japanese children's manga and storybook series created and illustrated by Ritsuko Kawai. The series features a hamster named Hamtaro who goes on adventures with other hamsters called the "Ham-Hams." The manga was first published in April 1997 in Shogakukan's Shōgaku Ninensei magazine. Additional stories were later included in other grade-level magazines and in Ciao. Viz Media published the manga and storybooks in English for international audiences.
